Matthew J. Kelly having been born and raised in Sweet Home Alabama, He immediately learned that greeting people by saying, "Roll Tide" is more than a hello. It's a strange new friendship established between people who somehow understand one another with one simple saying. So, ROLL TIDE!
Matthew knew at a young age that he was different. From singing and dancing in grocery lines with his mother at the age of 5 he was born to entertain where he could just be himself. Matthew took his performing career seriously once he realized that he could actually pursue Musical Theatre as a career and started his acting journey in high school performing in the fall and spring musicals. While attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Matthew created UAB Department of Theatre’s first Color Cabaret: A Night of Color, a night of celebration, togetherness and community. You can learn more about “A Night of Color“ in the Color Cabaret tab above.
He has worked under the direction of inspiring collaborators including Christina Sajous and Kevin Smith Kirkwood, as well as showcasing Jerry Mitchell and Matt Lenz choreography and direction across the country in the Broadway National Tour Hairspray last year.
Matthew is quirky, adventurous, free-spirited and uplifting. He is also a collaborator and creator who prides himself in his work, communication and leadership skills.
